What Does Profhilo Do?
The Profhilo treatment is made of injectable hyaluronic acid (much like a dermal filler) which improves skin quality and treats skin laxity. Profhilo not only hydrates and acts like scaffolding within the skin, it also triggers a response in the tissue known as ‘bioremodeling’ which smooths, tightens and gives your skin an inner glow.
When injected into the skin, Profhilo lasts for 30 days. During this time, it stimulates 4 different types of collagen and elastin which results in tissue improvement, to give your skin a smoother, plumper and more youthful appearance.
Profhilo has a unique spreading ability and it is this unique property which makes it extremely effective for areas such as the neck, décolletage and lower face which suffer from crepey appearance as we age. It can also be used on the arms or anywhere on the body which is suffering from crepey skin.
Profhilo is a 2-part treatment with a second session required 30 days after the first. Full results are seen only after the second session as your skin continues to produce more and more collagen and elastin.
What's The Difference Between Profhilo And Dermal Filler?
The only similarity between dermal fillers and Profhilo is that they’re both made from hyaluronic acid which is injected into your tissues.
Fillers are quite a thick hyaluronic acid gels used to restore volume and definition to areas such as cheeks and lips, as well as smooth out specific wrinkles such as nose-to-mouth lines. Profhilo has a runnier consistency than fillers and is injected only into the upper layers of skin to hydrate and have a ‘scaffolding’ effect within the skin, as well as improve the quality of your skin thanks to its ability to trigger bioremodelling.
Does Profhilo Work?
The results of Profhilo are fantastic if injected on a strict schedule. It must be injected on the schedule of one month apart for your first two treatments (some patients will need a third treatment one month later) and then maintenance treatments every 6 months.
