Cryolipolysis, commonly referred to as “Fat Freezing”, is the newest form of non-invasive fat reduction. The treatment involves controlled cooling of fat tissues through the skin to breakdown the fat cells (lipolysis), without damaging other cells or tissue. The broken-down fat cells are then naturally metabolised and removed by the body’s lymphatic system resulting in a reduction of the fat layer being treated.
After successful completion of the consultation form, you will be asked to remove and clothing around the area you wish to be treated. Measurements of the fat in the area will be taken, along with photographs to log progress of treatments (with consent). Markings will be made on the skin to show where the cryo applicators will be placed. This is important, as when you are laying down it is difficult to see fat pockets as gravity takes over!
A protective membrane is placed over the skin to prevent any skin damage (frostbite) from the extreme temperatures.
The applicator, or applicators, are then applied to the area. The ‘bulge’ is vacuumed into the cup where it is heated to approximately 42 degrees for about a minute to get the blood flowing to the area. The temperature then drops to -5 gradually over the next few minutes. You will experience a slight cold sensation and then the area is numb. The treatment lasts for 40-60 minutes and is completely painless.
After the treatment, the applicator is removed and your skin will be very cold! A massage of the area will then be performed to break down the crystals beneath the skin and stimulate the lymphatic system to flush out the dead cells.
Results are not immediate with cryolipolysis, and areas may need multiple treatments. The body can take up to 6 weeks to eliminate these dead fat cells which is why it is extremely important to follow a healthy diet both pre, and post treatment for best results. Body brushing twice a day can also speed up the elimination process and your therapist will explain the best way to do this at the treatment.
It is essential to stay hydrated and we recommend drinking at least 2 litres of water per day.

Although Cryolipolysis is safer than most treatments, it still has potential for side effects:
– Bruising or pin point bleeding (especially on delicate areas such a back fat)
– Swelling
– Redness
– Numbness (immediately after treatment)
– Tingling (as skin returns to normal)
– Frostbite is extremely rare side effect and is only cause by user error – always visit a clinic who are fully trained and insured!
The treatment is suitable for both men and women, over the age of 18, who have unwanted stubborn fat. There are certain medical conditions that mean this treatment may be unsuitable including:
– Hyper or hypotension
– Liver/Kidney Disease
– Pregnant or breast-feeding women
– Immune System Disease
– Currently undergoing radiotherapy/chemotherapy

– Increase water intake
– Follow a healthy and balanced diet
– Dry body brush the treatment area twice daily
– Avoid alcohol for 24-48 hours
– Avoid heat treatments for 48 hours
– Drink detox tea
1 week after treatment, you can complement the procedure with cavitation and Radio Frequency treatments to sculpt the body further.
